The ball is the motor, with a guide bar sticking out of it. It revs while it rolls, glowing hotter, then bites on contact: the saw latches on and chews rapid damage, pinning the victim against a wall if one is close. Then it jams and kicks you back, and the rev starts cold. The hotter the rev at contact, the bigger the bite.
